Compliance Officer - MI market

The Tenet Compliance Officer reports directly to Tenet Compliance Lead, who reports directly to the Tenet Senior Director Compliance. The Tenet Compliance Officer is responsible for managing the implementation of Tenet’s Ethics and Compliance Program in his or her assigned state. The Tenet Compliance Officer’s general duties and responsibilities encompass implementing Tenet’s systems, processes, and policies designed to ensure compliance with federal healthcare program requirements. The Tenet Compliance Officer is also responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Quality, Compliance and Ethics Charter in her or her facilities as assigned.
Responsibilities and activities of the Compliance Officer are the following:
- Advise leadership at facilities within assigned state on issues concerning compliance, and ethics matters including recommending controls designed to ensure compliance.
- Work collaboratively with leadership at facilities within assigned state in compliance, ethics and privacy/security program development and implementation.
- Establish effective working relationships and build credibility with stakeholders to support a culture of ethics and compliance.
- Interface directly with leadership and employees at facilities within assigned state to serve as a sounding board for their concerns about ethics and compliance matters.
- Lead quarterly state level Compliance Committees meetings
- Attend facility Board meetings in person or virtually
- Assists in the implementation of Tenet education and training program that focuses on the requirements of the Quality, Compliance and Ethics Charter, Tenet’s ethics and compliance program, and the privacy and security program to ensure that all employees, contractors, and physicians within the region are knowledgeable of Federal healthcare program requirements and the requirements of the Ethics and Compliance program as required to perform their respective roles.
- Coordinate with Tenet counsel to facilitate communication between the Compliance and Ethics Department and Law Department on legal and compliance matters.
- Assists in auditing, monitoring and oversight processes related to identified risks.
- Oversee the implementation of corrective actions and monitoring in response to identified issues and audits.
- Implement approved monitoring systems and processes for compliance and ethics issues in the state.
- Implement approved procedures that encourage facility employees, leadership, contractors, and physicians to report suspected fraud or other improprieties without the fear of retaliation.
- Work collaboratively with corporate personnel to resolve all compliance issues identified.
- Implement the Tenet hospital compliance work plan and initiatives and systems to prevent compliance and privacy/security issues from arising within assigned facilities.
- Act as a consultative resource on compliance and ethics matters.
Required Background
- Three to five years of progressive experience in hospital compliance, preferably for a large, multi-faceted healthcare company.
- Demonstrated knowledge in compliance process improvement and the requirements of federal healthcare programs requirements.
- Demonstrated experience working within a hospital, health system, or other regulated healthcare environment.
- Experience in:
- Developing and implementing corrective action plans
- Conducting or overseeing audits/monitoring activities
- Compliance training development and delivering presentations
- Compliance data analysis, trend reporting, dashboard utilization
- Proven negotiation and influence abilities, particularly with senior leaders

- Enjoys working as a member of a cohesive team and is good at doing so
- Well-developed communications and consensus building skills.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to identify root causes, evaluate risks, and propose solutions
- Comfortable making decisions in ambiguous or evolving environments
Education and Certifications
- A bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
- CHC certification required
Travel
- Up to 50% travel required.
- Selected candidate will be required to pass a Motor Vehicle Records Check.
Compensation
- Base pay: $98,592-$157,664 annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
- Position may be eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan bonus of 10%-50% depending on role level.
- Management level positions may be eligible for sign-on and relocation bonuses.
