JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Serve as primary legal resource for the enterprise (Tenet, Conifer, USPI) for information technology and intellectual property matters and manages legal support for Procurement team. Provide strategic planning, oversight, and guidance relating to technology and IP related transactions. Engage actively and proactively with all business units, and attorneys for the enterprise. Lead a team of two attorneys and 1.5 FTE paralegals (located in Manila).
  • Serve as counsel to the CIO and CISO, and as a member of the IS Leadership Team for IT strategic planning. Report to the General Counsel.
  • Serve as primary legal guidance for cybersecurity incidents: leading legal investigation with engagement of outside counsel, forensics investigators and other third parties, as determined appropriate; communications with Tenet leadership; and engaged in planning, reporting and compliance guidance, working with internal and external regulatory counsel and Tenet’s Chief Privacy Officer.
  • Address all company intellectual property issues, including technology licensing, music licensing, other content licensing and rights issues, trademark, copyright and patent guidance, filings and infringement claims.
  • Responsible for legal review and strategic guidance for enterprise and other significant agreements; manages legal strategy relating to vendors.
  • Serve as a resource to support litigation prosecution and defense for IT related matters, patent and trademark infringement claims, and AI matters.
  • Provide legal support for AI policy and practice; provision of legal guidance for AI strategy; provides contractual guidance for protections relating to AI products and services.

Responsibilities

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Practicing attorney for 15+ years, licensed in Texas. Role is based at Tenet’s corporate headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
  • Significant technology contracting experience at a senior level required.
  • Corporate law and mergers & acquisitions experience is preferred. Experience with trademark and copyright law is a plus.
  • Law firm and in-house experience is preferred.
  • Prior leadership experience, and experience managing other attorneys is preferred.

Qualifications

Additionally, the successful lawyer must be self-motivated, organized, a team player and work well in a high-energy and fast-paced environment. The lawyer filling this position must also possess excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the company, including senior corporate executives and outside counsel. This position will involve handling confidential matters requiring the exercise of good judgment and discretion.

Education/Certifications
  • Juris Doctor Degree from an ASA Accredited Law School is required and fully qualified to practice in the State of Texas.
