Description:
Position Summary:
The clinical specialist serves as the clinical expert for assigned Surgical Services. . The clinical specialist is responsible for the coordination of education for the practice of perioperative nursing. This individual assesses and diagnoses specific learning needs of nurses in assigned areas, and then provides the appropriate clinical intervention for their development. The clinical specialist serves as a clinical resource to the new nurse and their preceptor as well as the experienced nurse in the advanced practice setting. Collaboratively working with the facility educators, the clinical specialist facilitates patient care and improves staff performance in the clinical specialty areas. The clinical specialist ensures continuity between clinical practice and standards of care. This individual works collaboratively with surgeons, staff, managers and other health care disciplines utilizing a team approach.
2503006625EDUCATION:
Minimum: BSN required/ Master Degree in Nursing, Education, Training or other related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum: Five (5) years’ experience in acute hospital-based nursing practice, with specialty in Perioperative nursing.
Preferred: Three years(3) open heart operating room experience in health care in clinical setting with past supervisory experience; Two (2) years Endoscopy experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION:
- Current Florida Registered Nurse License;
- Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS, and PALS Certifications.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent human relations and written communication skills. Supervisory experience preferred. Must be able to function as an educational/supervisory resource for perioperative services.. Open heart experience preferred.
