Up to $10,000 Sign-On bonus based on experience

Position Summary

The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for the skilled and competent delivery of Respiratory Care and Special Diagnostics Services ordered by a physician in accordance with established protocols set by the facility or other Health Care provider in the treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the Cardiopulmonary system. The RT II Advanced Practice position includes proficiency in 3 of the following: Endotracheal Intubation, Arterial Line insertion, Cardio-Pulmonary stress testing, Nitric oxide set up and administration, PICC line insertion, Pulmonary Rehab The Advanced Practice RRT must obtain 6 CEU’s in Critical Care or related skills. Must provide 1 approved CEU annually. Responsible for data collection and abstraction of assigned Performance Improvement Measure. Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Special Diagnostics department in the absence of the Director, Manager, and/or supervisory personnel. The RTII therapist is also responsible for documenting and maintaining shift coverage in the event of sick call or no show and dividing and distributing work assignments to all Special Diagnostics personnel.

1. Reports for scheduled shift on time and prepared to assume responsibilities.

  • Reports to work in proper uniform or attire.  
  • Leaves for meal break on time and returns on time.
  • Varies work schedule to meet the needs of the department.
  • Ensures all overtime has been approved by the department head prior to working.
  • Schedules all time off with supervisors’ approval. 
  • Strictly adheres to hospital attendance/tardiness policies 100% of the time.
  • Performs all duties as assigned. 
  • Wears I.D. badge above the waist at all times on hospital property.

 

2. Attends and participates in meetings and is responsible for information communicated at meetings. 

  • Attends all hospital mandatory in-services on a timely basis as scheduled.          
  • Participates as an active team member at staff meetings.                                
  • Reads communications and acts upon in a positive and informative manner.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Minimum: Associates Degree - Graduate of an AMA respiratory therapist program. 
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum l year experience in an acute care setting/emphasis on critical care.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION

  • Current Florida License as a Respiratory Therapist, NBRC   RRT credential, ACLS, BLS, PALS
  • Critical Care RRT credential preferred.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Skills in Trauma and Open-heart care.
