Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Minimum: High School or Equivalent

Preferred: Associate’s Degree

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two (2) years ICD-9/ICD-10 coding. AIS and ISS scoring knowledge. Medical Terminology.
  • Strong Computer skills – including MS Excel & MS Word
  • Strong communication & customer service skills

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION:

  • None required.
  • Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) or Certified Trauma Registrar (CSTR) preferred.

Description

Position Summary:

The Trauma Registrar is responsible and accountable for maintaining the Trauma Registry. The Trauma Registry (data base/hard copy files) supports trauma quality and process improvement efforts, which are identified concurrently. The Trauma Registrar enters all trauma patients into the trauma registry database, and maintains all components of the Registry files. The trauma registrar is responsible for review of all trauma patient records (EMS, ED & inpatient) data tracking/collection, injury scoring (AIS) and coding (ICD-9 or ICD-10). The registrar is also responsible for running various reports/projects, including statistical reports, on a monthly basis.
