Job Summary

In collaboration with the CEO and through subordinate leadership personnel, directs the personnel, operational and financial activities of the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan's (RIM) Therapy Services and across the Detroit Market. Directs operations and oversees financial monitoring and marketing of Therapy services. Provides oversight to DMC clinical therapy services. Seeks out, develops and/or implements new programs or services that reflect industry or hospital strategic changes, availability of new technologies, new treatment methodologies or process improvements. Analyzes the potential impact of regulatory and reimbursement changes on service delivery and plans/oversees all operational changes required. Responsible for efficient and flexible resource utilization in order to operate therapy programs within budgetary parameters. Regularly reviews and reports on financial performance of the inpatient programs. In collaboration with Quality Improvement leadership, oversees quality, safety, customer services and accreditation initiatives relative to inpatient services and manages integration of associated standards into policies, procedures and staff behavior. Collaborates with other leadership personnel as appropriate to provide an environment that supports the delivery of patient care. Identifies areas for improvement and initiates corrective management action. Works in partnership with DMC and RIM teams to support and enhance a continuum of services to meet the needs of patients and referring physicians. Identifies the need for policy development and/or revision, defines policies in collaboration with higher-level management input, goals and objectives. Oversees or directs the development and/or revision of department procedures/protocols in accordance with system wide goals and objectives. Approves procedures/protocols and/or seeks other departmental approvals as appropriate. Develops, monitors and revises functional processes. Provides input into the development and revision of organizational structure for areas of responsibility. Approves personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc. Oversees and ensures the timely completion of performance appraisals. Develops goals and measures for Inpatient Services and oversees the assessment of goal attainment. Measures and assesses personnel, operational and financial performance of Inpatient Services. As requested, assists in long range goal development. Develops and monitors budget for areas of responsibility. Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements and DMC policies. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.



Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in Business, Health Care Administration, or service related health care discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience

2. Five years of progressively more responsible management experience.

3. Management experience in a health care setting strongly preferred.

Facility Description

DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan is one of the nation’s largest hospitals specializing in rehabilitation medicine and research. RIM is known for its clinical expertise in spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, amputee, orthopedics and catastrophic injury care. The Institute houses the Center for Spinal Cord Injury Recovery and the Southeastern Michigan Traumatic Brain Injury System (SEMTBIS), one of only 16 federally designated model systems of care for brain injury care and research. RIM also operates 31 outpatient sites throughout southeast Michigan specializing in sports medicine and orthopedics.
