Detroit is a city in the middle of a genuine resurgence — a place where historic architecture, world-class museums, and a thriving arts and food scene coexist with an affordable cost of living that is rare in any major metro. The Detroit Institute of Arts, the riverfront, and a restaurant scene that punches well above its weight make for a high quality of life at a fraction of what you'd pay on the coasts. Families are drawn to established suburban communities like Birmingham, Rochester Hills, and Grosse Pointe, each offering excellent schools and a strong sense of community. If you're looking for a city where your work has real impact and your dollar stretches further, Detroit delivers on both.
