Job Summary
Under general direction and according to established policies and procedures, supervises the security operations and personnel on an assigned off-shift; prepares daily work assignments and maintains daily attendance records for subordinate security staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements and DMC policies. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
1. Supervises the security operations and personnel at assigned facilities on an off-shift. Selects, trains, evaluates and when necessary, recommends the discipline and/or discharge of subordinate staff.
2. Makes daily work assignments for employees on designated shift; maintains daily attendance records; performs any additional duties as assigned.
3. Reviews all security reports and other appropriate departmental correspondence; ensures that proper information is disseminated to appropriate subordinate staff. Investigates safety, security and parking problems.
4. Responds to fire alarms and assures initiation of appropriate fire control procedures when fire marshall is not available.
5. May personally handle details similar to those assigned to security officers.
6. Promotes the value of the DMC by demonstrating behaviors supportive of a commitment to quality, community welfare, respect and involvement, teamwork, open and effective communication, innovation, education and efficient and effective resource use.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
2. Two years progressively more responsible experience as a security officer II in a DMC security department or equivalent experience as a Certified Police Officer.
3. Successful completion of Public Act 330 certification program or completion of a certified MCOLES academy.
4. Concealed weapons permit (for guns) required.
5. Must be eligible and remain eligible for coverage as a driver of hospital vehicles by the hospital's insurance carrier.
