- Prepares microscopic tissue slides for diagnostic/research purposes; performs tissue stains to assist in diagnosis; handles specimen accessioning; maintains laboratory and equipment.
- Performs more complex techniques such as enzyme chemistry and immuno histo chemistry.
- Reviews quality control, performs operational duties, maintenance and troubleshooting of histology instruments and equipment.
- Will provide supervision and technical direction to Histology Technician, as requested.
Job Summary
The Histology Technologist I performs various tasks required for receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by the Pathologist. Performs more complex techniques such as enzyme chemistry and immuno histo chemistry. May provide supervision and technical direction to Histology Technician.
Education:
Required: Bachelor's or associate degree or completion of training in an NCCLS-approved histology technician or technologist program
Experience:
Preferred: 1 year experience as Histotechnologist
