Summary

Provides leadership for the Sterile Processing Department and all facets of sterile processing and perioperative supply chain functions.
Initiates and completes operational plans that ensure quality while utilizing available resources efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the decontamination, assembly and sterilization of surgical instrumentation processes.
  • Assures that appropriate practices and methods are maintained according to manufacturer recommendations, departmental policies, and in compliance with standards set by regulatory agencies and professional associations.
  • Oversees instrument inventory workflow, maintains the effective use of associated technology/ computer systems for instruments, tracking and reporting.
  • Manages employee utilization, productivity, competence, and morale.
  • Maintains quality control systems, including appropriate documentation.
  • Ensures staffing is appropriate by monitoring FTE budget numbers.

Qualifications

Education

Required: Associates Degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience

Required: 1 year management experience. 3 years progressive work-related experience in sterile processing or surgical services.
Preferred: 3 years in a leadership role. Able to demonstrate an advanced knowledge of instrumentation. Demonstrated prior experience working with an instrument tracking systems. CST or Operating Room RN Experience.

Certifications

Required: BLS required. IAHCSMM or CBSPD Certified.
