Job Summary
Performs the role of anesthesia technician by using principles of aseptic technique to establish and maintain a sterile field. Facilitates the efficient completion of the surgery schedule.
Responsibilities
- Anesthesia carts are stocked daily according to PAR levels. Will co-ordinate with Materials. Management as necessary to assure adequate supplies and will be responsible for the order special items (low usage) not obtainable from Materials Management. Work with Pharmacy to assure stocking of anesthesia gases, IV fluids, and topical anesthetic solutions
- Special equipment/supply needs are anticipated and obtained prior to the scheduled time of surgery. Be familiar with anesthesia equipment and monitors. Troubleshoot and maintain Anesthesia Machines, Monitors, and cart basic problems. Notifies TSS of malfunctioning equipment. Properly labels malfunctioning equipment
- Turnover O.R. between cases. Remove and replace used circuits, wipe down cables and equipment. Set up for next case. Fill anesthesia gases if needed
- Demonstrates principles of sterile technique when setting up appropriate IVs, A-lines, blood warmers, and other lines. Maintains sterility when opening sterile packages and inspects itmes for integrity prior to opening.
- Demonstrate ability to help transport patients using caution with multiple lines and familiarity with the monitors used during transport.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required
- Education: High school diploma required.
- Experience: 6 months experience in direct care patient setting or graduate of an Anesthesia Technician Program
- License/Certification:
- American Heart Association BLS certification
- American Heart Association CPR certification
Preferred:
- License/Certification: CNA, LPN, EMT, ST, PhT, or graduate of Anesthesia Tech program
