Job Summary
Position Summary
Advances Quality/Risk tactics by assisting in data capture, aggregation and analysis along with just-in-time education and facilitation of improvement projects. Position involves mitigating risk, protecting the hospital and help provide a safe environment for its patients focusing on reducing medical errors, improving patient safety and staying current on federal and state laws and regulations. Active participation in patient safety committees, managing claims and service recovery. Acts as a resource for hospital staff who have legal concerns, facilitating investigations and assisting legal counsel in the litigation process.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the capture of raw performance data for entry into various databases. Data capture could include, but would not be limited to, observation of practices and medical record review.
- Accurately retrieves and performs analysis of quality, and patient safety data for clinical effectiveness, to enhance performance improvement, financial and management activities.
- Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships within system and hospital stakeholders related to improvement initiatives .
- Maintains profiles on physician practice patterns for use by the medical staff and their focused and ongoing professional practice process.
- Conducts investigation and analysis of patient complaints and grievances. Prepares responses to patient grievances for internal and external stakeholders.
- Attends meetings to distribute and communicate data analysis, and impact to key stakeholders including market leadership, hospital leadership, and physicians.
- Facilitates improvement efforts surrounding the publicly reported measures and hospital/ company initiatives.

Qualifications
- Special Skills
- Bilingual preferred
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other computer software such as Midas, Cerner Premier Quality Advisor, etc.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills to assist in the resolution of quality of care issues.
- Ability to conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and debriefs.
- Ability to interview hospital and medical staff as needed.
- Ability to interpret loss run reports and crate a monthly risk report.
- Ability to work with Legal department, assigned legal counsel and research legal questions.
- Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience: 2 years experience in healthcare quality improvement activities
- Licensure/Certifications: Registered Nurse Licensed in State of Arizona
- Preferred Requirements
- Education: Masters Degree in healthcare, Health Information Management or business related field
- Experience:
- 5-7 years clinical experience with at least 4 of those years in acute care
- 5 years working with the Joint Commission Accreditation standards and survey preparation, CMS and DHS regulation and data collection
- 2 years in Risk Management, familiar with Arizona statues and medical malpractice litigation.
- Licensure/Certifications: CPHQ, CPHRM, Notary Republic
