General Functions:
Assists other nursing personnel in patient care.
Reports identified unusual patient conditions/reactions to licensed staff.
Makes rounds with oncoming shift.
Completes Audits, as assigned.
Enter Charges, as needed.
Completes errands as directed.
Performs functions that may be delegated by the licensed professional nurse (when appropriate)
Measures and applies TED hose and SCD stockings.
Performs oral suctioning with a tonsil-tip suction device.
Collects urine (clean catch), and stool specimens.
Collects sputum sample (not by suction).
Performs intermittent urethral catheterization and urine specimen collection.
Inserts and discontinues indwelling catheters; collects sterile specimens when ordered
Performs blood glucose monitoring at the bedside.
Applies pulse oximeter probe and records readings.
Assists with set up (not application) of wall or tank oxygen therapy.
Performs site care to established PEG or tracheostomy sites.
Empties colostomy or ileostomy bags.
Performs venipuncture for lab specimen testing.
Discontinues peripheral IV catheters.
Utilizes orthopedic appliances to include but not limited to braces, CPM machine, crutches, and walkers.
Sets-up/takes down traction.
Exhibits compassionate care and service excellence and demonstrates Studer Principles and “must haves”
Facilitates patient movement through the facility, proactively supporting timely admissions, discharges and transfers
Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
Maintains safe environment
Addresses patient population-specific needs
Participates in Performance Improvement activities
This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus

Position Summary
Under close supervision of a licensed nurse, provides basic and intermediate nursing care for assigned group of patients based on competence.
General Nursing Units care for patients from age 18 years to maturity. Unit specific variation may apply.
Special Care Areas care for patients 18 years through adult with high-risk conditions.
Maternal Child Units: Labor and Delivery care includes patients who have a pregnancy related condition.
Nursery care includes care for the newborn until discharge.
Endoscopy Unit cares for patients 18 years and older.
Emergency Department provides care to patients of all ages.
Behavioral Health/Gero-Psych Unit provides care for patients 17 years and older requiring psychiatric care.
Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 1 year hospital experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of a current state or national nurse’s aide
certification or a certification as a phlebotomist, medical technician, patient care technician, medical
assistant, EKG tech or in another related field.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): BLS –Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center.
