Brookwood Baptist Medical Center: Located in Birmingham, this 588 bed facility provides the following services: Brain & Neuro, Cancer Care, Children's Services, Diagnostics, Digestive Disorders, Ear, Nose & Throat, Emergency, Gynecological Surgery, Heart Care, infertility issues, Interventional Radiology, Maternity, Orthopedics, Pain Management, Psychiatry (one of the largest providers in the State), Pulmonary and Respiratory, Rehabilitation Services, Robotic Surgery, Sleep Center, Surgical Services, Urology, Weight Loss Surgery, Women's Health, Workforce Wellness, and Wound Care.
Position Summary
Surgical Scheduler schedules patients for surgery, tests, referrals, medical and cardiac clearance, pre-op tests and review meds and health history.
Responsibilities
Scheduling patients for surgery, completing facility paperwork. Scheduling patients for diagnostic tests such as bone scan, MRI, CT, EMG/NCS, ESI. Reviewing patient’s meds and health history to determine pre-admission testing needs. Scheduling appropriate medical and cardiac clearances. Scheduling patient for follow-up appointments and tests.
Other duties as assigned.
Education
Required: High School diploma or GED. Evidence of Medical Terminology proficiency.
Experience
Required: 1 year.
Certifications
Required: BLS.
