Job Summary
Job Shift: Nights
Job Type: Full Time
Hours: 7p-7a Thurs, Fri and Sat
The Admitting Representative greets patients and visitors in person or on the telephone; obtains demographic, financial and medical information for registration and identification, coordinates and assists in the completion of all activities relating to patients finances, facilitates the collection and distribution of information and expedites a smooth and timely billing and collection process while adhering to department policies and procedures.
Requests and collects any patient liabilities due such as, co-payment, deductibles, co-insurance and compact rates and follows the department scripting for assigned area.
Monitors and expedites the necessary authorizations and approvals for hospital emergency room, outpatient service or elective surgeries per the designated insurance carriers.
Acts as a resource and liaison for employees within the department, as well as other inter-related hospital staff and all "guests" that need assistance or information.
Qualifications
1. High School diploma or equivalent
2. 3 - 5 years recent experience in acute care hospital registration or business office environment
3. Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal and third party billing and collection procedures
4. Experience or knowledge in admissions, registrations and insurance verification's is essential
Basic computer skills
1. Ability to speak Spanish / Bi-lingual - preferred
2. Medical Terminology - preferred
Special conditions of employment:
1. Ability to work off shifts, weekends and holidays.
2. Must be available for call back.
3. Must be able to respond to emergency situations.
4. Handles confidential personal, medical and financial information.
