Job Summary
Job type: Full Time
Shift: 8 HRS
Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday
Supports the Director of Pharmacy in the direction of the operations of the Pharmacy Department. This individual’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Administrative
- Oversees the employees and processes within the Pharmacy.
- Coordinates the implementation of new programs and processes as directed by the Director of Pharmacy Services.
Oversees the compounding, dispensing, ordering, and proper storage of all pharmaceuticals
Regulatory Compliance
- Assists in assuring TJC requirements and Medicare Conditions of Participation are met.
- Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the appropriate operations of the department.
- Maintains a system of record keeping, accountability, and documentation with the current applicable local, state and federal statues regarding the practice of Pharmacy.
Education
- Oversees the creation and maintenance of Pharmacy staff competencies.
- Accountable for the development and implementation of Pharmacy education provided at the orientation of new hospital staff.
- Accountable for the education of Pharmacy students on clinical rotation.
Medication Safety
- Liaisons with the organization’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and all other pertinent hospital committees to facilitate the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapy.
- Oversees patient monitoring program in order to evaluate and optimize patient outcomes, drug utilization and patient compliance, detecting and addressing Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs), etc.
Clinical Pharmacy
- Implements, coordinates and evaluates all clinical Pharmacy services, ensuring the competency, compliance and professional development of Pharmacy staff.
- Maintains current knowledge of pharmacotherapy standards as well as trends in the healthcare industry.
- Performs duties of a staff pharmacist as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
Drug Diversion
- Accountable for maintaining and monitoring pharmaceutical and narcotic supplies in a manner consistent with TENET and hospital policy.
Qualifications

Required qualifications:
• PharmD or BS in Pharmacy with 3 years hospital inpatient Pharmacist experience.
• An active Pharmacy license.
• Residency training or 3 years experience in hospital setting.
• Minimum of 1 years in a leadership position, preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation bodies, survey standards, and outcomes metrics
Preferred qualifications:
• Advanced degree (PharmD, MS, MBA, MHA)
• Pharmacy residency or fellowship training
