JFK Memorial Hospital has provided medical care to residents in the Coachella Valley since 1966. A group of physicians, including Dr. Reynaldo Carreon, founded the hospital and today one of JFK’s cross streets is named in his honor.

Originally called Indio Community Hospital, JFK has grown to a 145-bed acute-care hospital that is part of Tenet Healthcare California. It offers a variety of services, including:
•Emergency care 24/7
•Orthopedic and joint replacement services using emerging technology
•Cardiovascular services
•Maternity care and pediatric services
•Ambulatory surgery center
•Imaging services
•Outpatient Rehabilitation Center

Position Overview:

  • The Emergency Department Technician II is a non-professional, emergency medical technician who assists with the direct care of emergency department patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse and who performs other essential non-direct patient duties.
  • The ED Technician II performs EKG’s, assists the physician with procedures/suturing, applies splints, performs wound care, takes vital signs and weights, collects specimens, performs CPR and assists the nursing staff as delegated.
  • The ED Technician additionally transports patients via wheelchair or gurney and provides safety and comfort for patients and their families.
  • The ED technician II supervises the ED Technician I and is responsible for twenty-four hour coverage of ED Technicians in the Emergency Department and for completing a schedule with appropriate coverage.
  • The ED Technician II is a mentor for new hires and existing staff and contributes to the orientation process.
  • The ED Technician II uses effective verbal and written skills to communicate with people on all levels, and is able to maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians.
  • Greets patients and visitors in person or on the telephone, obtains demographic and medical information for registration and identification.
  • Fosters a supportive environment and promotes customer service by assisting with JFK’s goals in obtaining 100 percent satisfaction rates among our most important constituents.

Position Qualifications:

  • CPR
  • EMT Certificate
  • Two (2) years Emergency Technician Experience
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • AB-508 Nonviolent Crisis Intervention course within six (6) months of hire

Pay Range: $20.42 - $27.44

Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience
