Responsibilities:

Primary Duties


1. Develops and maintains organizational systems and process for the operations of the Medical Staff Office

2. Organizes, coordinates and supervises the Credentialing, appointment and reappointment processes to ensure that they are performed in an accurate and timely manner.


3. Schedules and coordinates all Medical Staff meetings in close collaboration with the Department Chiefs, ensuring that agendas, documents and minutes are complete, accurate and presented or routed to the appropriate committees.


4. Responsible for all the financial transactions of the medical staff, the collection of dues and for keeping the Medical Executive Committee informed regularly of the status of the finances.


4. Attends committee meetings, takes minutes and, transcribes the minutes in an accurate and timely manner, presenting them for the approval of the Department Chief.


6. Follows through on all department and committee recommendations and correspondence to physicians, channeling recommendations to the corresponding hospital departments and committees.

7. Collaborates with the Chief of Staff to maintain Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations up to date and according to standards, laws and regulations from external agencies.

8. Proficient in all computer systems used in the Medical Staff Office, maintaining such systems up to date and working for the intended purposes.

9. Acts as a liaison between the Medical Staff, Administration and all hospital Depts. and Committees.

10. Demonstrates knowledge of The Joint Commission Standards, CMS Conditions of Participation and Title 22 as they relate to Medical Staff and Medical Staff activities.


9. Actively participates in the education of the Medical Staff regarding changes in medical staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and any requirements from regulatory agencies.


10. Proactive in seeking professional growth and educational opportunities in her area of expertise.


11. Maintains current documents of privileges lists, attendance lists, listings of all committees and committee members, notifying all in-house departments of any changes.


10. Proficient in maintaining physician statistical data to collaborate in the completion of the On Going Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE).

11. Actively participates in the peer review process, supporting the Medical Staff and collaborating with the Quality Management Dept.


11. Actively participates in the Medical Staff preparation for accreditation survey.

13. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Position Specifications

Working Conditions

Minimum Education:

— High School or equivalent


Preferred Education:

— Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training


Minimum Experience:

— At least 3 years experience as a medical staff secretary or equivalent.


Preferred Experience:

— Supervisory experience preferred


Preferred Certification/Registration:

— Medical Staff Coordinator certification


Skills: Administrative:

— Compose letters/memorandums

— Organizes/Coordinates events

— Organizes/Coordinates meetings

— Develop office procedures

— Establish filing and organizational systems

Position Summary

The Medical Staff Director is assigned the responsibility of organizing, coordinating and supervising all Medical Staff Activities and acts as a liaison between the Medical Staff, Administration, and external regulatory agencies, all within the parameters established by Administration and the Medical Staff.

Pay Range: $42.93 - $66.52 **Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience ***Calculated based on a full time position
