Description
Position Summary:
Monitors nutritional care, manages physician ordered therapeutic diets and provides nutritional education to patients. Directs, supervises, and coordinates diet office activities.
Shift: Days Mon- Fri
Hours: 9:00AM- 5pm

Primary Duties
1. Provides Kitchen oversight and monitors kitchen staff, assures kitchen staff training is complete.
2. Educates kitchen staff as procedures, policy, and regulations change. Assures performance improvement by the kitchen staff.
3. Documents all relevant aspects of nutritional care for patients in accordance with departmental standards.
4. Performs nutritional assessments as determined. Requests patient food preferences and prepares patient diets on a daily basis.
5. Attends health care team meetings regularly to discuss patient care needs.
6. Educated patients on long term nutritional care through individual discussions, group classes and community speaking engagements.
7. Writes modified diets and coordinates diet adaptations with house menus Charts diets in medical records.
8. Serves as an educational resource to nursing and medical personnel.
9. Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies..
10. Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
11. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Qualifications
Physical demands:
· Occasional walking, standing
· Lift supplies/equipment
· Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 pounds)
· Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching
Working Conditions:
· Exposed to varying degrees of kitchen elements
· May be exposed to/occasionally exposed to patient elements
Minimum Education/Certification/Experience:
Knowledge of foods/nutrition; food preparation; production; supervisory/instructional techniques
One year experience in dietetics (may consider new grad if staffing allows)
Supervisory experience preferred
Bachelor’s Degree
Registered Dietitian (RD) – Commission on Dietetic Registration
