Department: Housekeeping
The Housekeeper is responsible for the general cleanliness of the following areas: Procedure areas, patient care areas, rest rooms, offices and all other areas requiring Environmental Services support. The routine work of this employee, depending upon area of assignment, consists of sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, wiping, surface cleaning all floors, walls, ceilings, sinks, mirrors, showers, commodes, windows, and other glass areas, waiting areas and public hallways. Performs linen and trash removal. Performs terminal cleaning of isolation rooms or exam rooms as required. Moving of furniture and other heavy equipment is accomplished as directed. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period.

Qualifications
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 6 (six) months housekeeping experience preferred. Prior experience working in a healthcare facility preferred.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE/ ABILITIES:
· Have some working knowledge of operation and control of electrical equipment and safety.
· Must be able to get along with others, accept instructions and suggestions.
· Must be able to comprehend and absorb new work methods.
· Ability to understand and communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions.
· Must be fluent in spoken and written English with proficient writing skills.
· Bi-lingual ability preferred with written and verbal fluency in both English and Spanish.
· Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
