Saint Francis Hospital Memphis is a 510-bed acute care hospital dedicated to providing high quality, compassionate care to the Mid-South community. Other acute care areas include Emergency Room, Critical Care, Med/ Surge and Telemetry.

Lactation Consult PRN Days Position Summary

Provides professional leadership and advanced knowledge in the practice of lactation management. Assesses patient's needs, diagnoses lactation problems, plans and implements intervention, and evaluates outcomes.

Responsibilities

Conducts prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluates educational outcomes. Provides outpatient care, consultation and home visits for families experiencing breastfeeding difficulties. Serves as consultant for physicians and other healthcare providers concerning lactation as it relates to patient's health problems.

Education

Required: Academic degree in nursing or food and nutrition
Preferred: Bachelors in nursing or food and nutrition

Experience

Required: Experience working with Mother Baby couplets in low and high risk situations.

Certification

Required: Must be currently licensed, certified or registered to practice profession (such as Registered Nurse, Registered Dietitian) as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy. Must be certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). CPR. NRP.
