Med Surg/Telemetry Bridge to Specialty Program

Graduate Nurses hired into the Med Surg/Telemetry pathway may have the option to bridge to a Specialty following the successful completion of their six month of residency.

Bridge to Specialty Program Outline

Months 1-6: Focus on Med Surg/Telemetry residency orientation, Successful completion of Med Surg/Telemetry competency assessment & didactic education, Performs at or above expectation, Anytime following the sixth month of residency, the RN resident may seek approval of the unit manager and/or unit director to begin a six - month bridge to specialty.

Months 6-12: Graduate Nurse will complete two 12 hour shifts monthly, with a preceptor on a preferred specialty unit for a six month period, Didactic specialty education completed in Learnshare, Specialty competency assessment, Upon successful completion of a minimum of 12 months of employment in the Med Surg/Telemetry Nurse Residency program, and six months in the Bridge to Specialty program, the RN resident has the option to say on the Med Surg/Telemetry unit or transfer to specialty to complete the remaining shifts of specialty orientation, i.e. Critical Care Specialty orientation accelerated by four weeks.

As a comprehensive medical center, Saint Francis Hospital Bartlett has the expertise to deliver quality care in a variety of specialties including Emergency Services, Inpatient & Outpatient Surgical Services, Med/Surge, Ortho, Critical Care and Women’s Services.

Graduate Nurse Full Time Days & Nights Position Summary

This is a developmental program for graduate nurses who want to develop multiple and varied clinical skills in multiple nursing specialties. This position requires participation in a guided training and developmental program.

Job Responsibilities

Will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide safe and competent patient care. Will specifically, assume responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing direct nursing care to assigned patients. Will also assume responsibility for the supervision of staff to which nursing care is appropriately delegated.

Onboarding Process: Please be advised that candidates must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment health screening which includes a drug screen.

Education

Required: Graduated from state approved school of nursing or an accredited school or upcoming graduation within the next 6 months or less
Preferred: Academic degree in nursing (bachelor's or master's degree)
