Saint Francis Hospital Memphis is a 510-bed acute care hospital dedicated to providing high quality, compassionate care to the Mid-South community. As a comprehensive medical center, Saint Francis Hospital Memphis features a broad spectrum of tertiary and acute care, outpatient services and specialty areas including Women’s Services, Surgical Services, Bariatric Center of Excellence and Behavioral Health. Other acute care areas include Emergency Room, Critical Care, Med/ Surge and Telemetry.
Nurse Practitioner Gastroenterology Full Time Days Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner, is an integral part of the GI Hospitalist care model delivery system. The Nurse Practitioner, is responsible for taking first call, and will augment the physician’s ability to provide medical services to patients. Will perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order lab studies and professional consultations.
Responsibility
The Certified Nurse Practitioner functions as an Advanced Practice Nurse collaboratively with physician sponsor/s providing leadership of the clinical care team and acts as a change agent for a specific patient population by incorporating the role of clinical expert, role model, consultant, educator, practitioner, researcher, and nurse leader. Provides clinical expertise to individual patients/families and/or groups of patients/families by providing direct and indirect patient care. Collaborates with the health care team in assessing, designing, implementing, and evaluating population-based programs of patient care to enhance high quality-cost effective patient outcomes. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in Mission, Vision and Values.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
- Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area
- Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Eligible for hospital privileges
Experience:
- Three to five years of general nursing experience of clinical practice at the RN level.
- Prior experience as NP strongly preferred
Professional Requirement:
- RN/ APRN license in the state of Tennessee, Master's Prepared Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner. Must be currently licensed, certified or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy. RNP License; BLS
