Emanuel Medical Center, Turlock,California, 209 beds, key service lines include Emergency Care, Cardiology, Oncology, Pediatrics, Women’s Services, and General Surgery.

Doctors Hospital of Modesto, Modesto, California, 461 beds, key service lines include Cardiovascular, Neurosciences, Women and Children’s Services, Neonatal Level III, Trauma Level II, Orthopedics, and Robotic Surgery.

Doctors Hospital of Manteca, Manteca, California, 73 beds, key service lines include Gastroenterology, Orthopedics, Bariatrics, General Surgery, Urology, and Obstetrics.

San Ramon Regional Medical Center, San Ramon, California, 123 beds, key services lines include Orthopedics, General Surgery, Cardiology, and Women’s Services.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Group Chief Nursing Officer provides strategic leadership as the senior executive position responsible for all nursing and other designated patient care functions and services within the hospital organization. The role assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice on a facility level. The role assumes 24/7 responsibility and has accountability to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care. The Group Chief Nursing Officer represents nursing concerns on the governing board and at medical staff leadership meetings. The GCNO will take operational responsibilities for non-nursing departments (ex: Imaging, Cath Lab, others as needed). This role will also serve as the Chief Nursing Officer for Northern California. Seeking a GCNO with strong nursing skills and a leader who is open to broadening their comprehensive hospital background by having responsibilities for ancillary departments as well.

CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE, ATTRIBUTES AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

At least five years of progressive management experience in a facility environment as a Chief Nursing Officer of multiple or complex nursing departments.

  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership ability and facility operational expertise.
  • Ability to serve as role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing.
  • Strong labor relations background.
  • An individual able to effectively and efficiently organize patient care promoting optimal outcomes, patient safety, and patient, physician, and employee satisfaction.
  • An individual with proven success recruiting, retaining, and developing staff. Someone effective in mentoring and developing staff, encouraging professional growth and achievement.
  • Takes the lead in complying with regulatory standards, rules, and laws.

  • Clearly a leader by example, able to articulate a clear vision and expectations for patient care services and other areas of responsibility.

Education/Certifications

  • An academic degree in nursing is required, and a master’s degree in nursing or related field (Health Administration, Business, Public Health, or Management) is required.
  • Active and current registered nurse license in the state of residence/practice is required.
  • Current CENP or NEA certification preferred.

Compensation

  • Pay: $250,000-$350,000 annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
  • Position may be eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan bonus of 10%-25% depending on role level.
  • Management level positions may be eligible for sign-on and relocation bonuses.

Travel

  • Approximately 20 percent travel.
    • Selected candidate will be required to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check.
