Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School graduate preferred.
  • Anatomy class
  • Medical Terminology

Minimum Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years experience working in a surgery scheduling office in a hospital and/or surgery center. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Recent Medical Terminology.

Physical Demands:

  • Considerable sitting. Lift/position up to 25 lbs. Push/pull up to 25 lbs of force.
  • Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
  • Manual dexterity and mobility
  • Adequate vocal pitch and volume
  • Ability to move quickly

Vision Requirements: 

  • Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less
  • Ability to adjust vision to bring into focus   
  • Ability to distinguish and identify different colors

Working Conditions:

  • Occasionally exposed to the risk of contagious and blood borne diseases
  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
  • Increased stress due to multiple calls and inquiries
  • Must be able to pass competency tests in the following areas: 
  • Computer Skills / 10_key entry
  • Anatomy & Medical Terminology

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Perioperative Services and/or designee, the Scheduler performs reception and clerical duties for the Centralized Scheduling Department. To ensure that patient visits are coordinated and scheduled in a timely fashion, to speed the flow of registration and to support pre-arrival activities by obtaining demographic, clinical and financial information (either electronically or manually) to safely and effectively deliver care and make the best use of Tenet resources. Assists with daily case journaling and charge posting when necessary. Follows established scheduling and customer service standards, policies and procedures to support the Tenet mission and commitment to quality.

Pay Range: $23.00 - $27.89 hourly **Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual�s qualifications and experience
