Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Administrative Supervisor, the Administrative Supervisor, a Registered Professional Nurse, has administrative responsibility for the management of all hospital service functions on his/her shift.

Position Accountabilities:
1. Accountable for staffing of nursing units.  Implements hospital staffing policies.  Coordinates and evaluates staffing requirements with staffing secretary.  Evaluates requests for specialized staffing.  Makes appropriate adjustments in daily staffing based on availability of resources in consideration of patient acuity, need and staff capabilities.                        
2. Accountable for admission and placement of patients.  Communicates admitting information with individual nursing units.  Determines patient placement based on acuity, disease process, and physician preference.  Coordinates all internal and external patient transfers.                        
3. Accountable for hospital safety.  Maintains local fire, safety and disaster regulations and policies.  Represents Occupational Health Nurse after hours - evaluates and documents employee injuries.  Coordinates hospital safety needs with security personnel.  Maintains hospital standards for infection control.                         
4. Responds to all hospital codes and trauma alerts.                        
5. Accountable for administrative responsibilities after normal business hours.  Evaluates and documents patient and family complaints.  Intervenes in interdepartmental issues and concerns.                        
6. Knows and interprets hospital policies and procedures, as well as the functions of other ancillary departments.  Communicates with medical staff to interpret Department of Nursing philosophy, policy and procedures.  Supports the mission and philosophy of Hospital and Nursing Administration.  Refers department operational issues to up line management.                        
7. Accountable for judgment and decision-making.  Analyzes data, considers options, develops plan of action, takes action as needed, evaluates response, effectively times response, sets short term and long-range goals and objectives and manages change.                        
8. Accountable for leadership.  Motivates staff by sharing ideas and values.  Fosters self-esteem.  Delegates responsibilities.  Encourages staff to function independently.  Remains open to suggestions and feedback.  Follows up to see that plans are implemented.  Manages redesign of healthcare systems.  Works with other professionals to strengthen practice and patient care.  Promotes patient and physician satisfaction and projects an image of professional competence to patients/families, staff, physicians, other departments and the community.                        
9. Accountable for developing staff.  Interviews and hires to meet budgeted plan.  Evaluates in-service and educational needs and provides as needed.  Monitors performance and appraises or counsels as needed.  Communicates information to staff.  Develops new Administrative Supervisors.                        
10. All other duties as assigned.                        

  • BSN preferred
  • Three to five years recent critical care and/or emergency department experience required. Supervisor/ Manager experience preferred 
  • Registered Nursing license for the state of California
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • TNCC and/or TCAR required

Pay Range: $65.32 - $104.52 hourly **Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience
