- Performs Echocardiograms using a departmental protocol for obtaining images.
- Assists with TEE’s and stress testing, providing images that support the physician’s ability to diagnose patients appropriately.
- Identifies problems & implements appropriate interventions, including reporting critical values.
- Sets priorities for completion of studies based on acuity, patient preference and/or the coordination of care with nursing and other ancillary services.
- Provides EKG and Holter Services when Echo workload permits.
- Obtains EKGs that reflect appropriate lead placement, minimal artifact, and correct patient information. Set’s up and scans Holter Monitors, providing tracings that support the physician’s ability to diagnose patients appropriately.
- Performs and monitors echocardiogram (cardiac ultrasound) procedures.
- Calculates, measures, and documents appropriate values on the tests performed for review and interpretation by physicians.
- Communicates with physicians, managers, and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical conditions while undergoing echocardiogram.
Education
Required: Graduate of accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography School/Associate Degree
Experience
Required: 6 months in clinical setting
Preferred: 2 years
Certifications
Required: Registry eligible and BLS.
Preferred: RDMS or RDCS
