POSITION SUMMARY: A licensed physical therapist assistant shall perform physical therapy treatments under the supervision of Physical Therapists following the PT care plans individualized to meet the need of each patient. Care plans rendered by the physical therapist assistant shall include treatments/modalities that promote restoration of function, restoration and maintenance of skin integrity, improvement in muscle strength, increase of endurance, education of the patient and their families about rehabilitation principles, the prevention of deformities through exercise and positioning programs and/or pain management. Responsibilities include the supervision of rehabilitation technicians, physical therapist assistant students, and volunteers. Physical therapist assistants also participate in scheduling of patient treatments, multidisciplinary care planning and patient education, and team support of other areas of service besides their assigned home department.

Qualifications

Education:
Minimum Education:  Completion of an Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.

Experience:
Preferred: 1 year experience

Certifications:
Required Certification: BCLS within 3 months of date of hire
Required Licensure: Texas Physical Therapist Assistant License or temporary license is adequate with permanent license  obtained by 6 months after date of hire
