Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The medical student coordinator will have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
- Assisting the DRMC Clerkship director in providing oversight and monitoring of third- and fourth-year medical students.
- Must have an Understanding and adheres to Liaison Committee on Medical Education {LCME} standards as it pertains to clinical clerkship requirements.
- Serves as point of contact for Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine {TUCOM}.
- Serves as point of contact for Western University of Health Sciences {WUHS}
- Serves at point of contact for American Canadian School of Medicine {ASCOM}
- Serves as point of contact for 4th year audition rotators.
- Coordinates security access including identification badges and access to the core and elective clinical sites.
- Administers and manages IT access including electronic medical records and other systems required to perform medical student duties.
- Oversees and manages student-parking privileges.
- Assists in the distribution and completion of evaluations.
- Attends regular meetings and takes detailed notes to report back to GME Director.
- Coordinates all fourth year medical student sub internships and visiting student electives.
- Coordinates all third year rotations for students and visiting students.
- Provides support and planning to the site clerkship director and DRMC GME Director.
- Maintains stock in medical student lounge.
- Order food and snacks for events and medical student lounge
- Attends Fairs and Expos for the purpose of support and recruitment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Summary;
Under limited supervision provides a high level of diversified administrative support in assisting the clerkship manager in the management and direction of the medical student-training program. The medical student coordinator will coordinate the educational activities for the incoming Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine {TUCOM} medical students as well as Western University of Health Sciences {WUHS}, American Canadian School of Medicine {ASCOM}. The medical student coordinator will also coordinate activities and provide support to the undergraduate medical education department by processing faculty logs and following up on payment, actively participating in the student onboarding process, scheduling, and facilitating the student feedback and evaluation process. The medical student coordinator will function as a liaison between medical students, departments, attendings, administration, and outside institutions.
The medical student coordinator must be highly communicative and organization, especially in sorting documents, maintaining the data system and responding to inquiries in person, via email and over the phone.
