GENERAL DUTIES:
The Admit Representative – Lead - greets patients and visitors in person or on the telephone; obtains demographic, financial and medical information for registration and identification, coordinates and assists in the completion of all activities relating to patients' finances, to facilitate the collection and distribution of information and to expedite a smooth and timely billing and collection process while adhering to department policies and procedures. Access to demographic information and limited patient health information related to job function.
The Admit Representative –Lead - monitors and expedites the necessary authorizations and approvals for hospital outpatient services or elective surgeries per the designated insurance carriers. The Lead ensures smooth operations for the Comprehensive Cancer Center, providing service and assistance to both patients and providers to assure efficient functioning of the office and the highest quality care to patients and companies who request our services.
Responsibilities
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:
a. Separates all referrals via faxes
b. Ensures all referrals are documented with scheduled appointments
c. Handles telephone calls related to scheduling issues
d. Maintains a tracking mechanism to ensure that multiple attempts have been made to contact
the patients
e Ensures functionality of all systems by monitoring and reporting issues to IT departments. Tests
interfaces for all changes with systems
f. Assists with the pre-registration process
g. Supervises the front office activities and events that happen on a daily basis, coordinates daily
assignments for front office, and acts as mentor to new and existing staff, ensuring smooth and
efficient clinic operations.
h. Covers for absentee employees as necessary
i. Maintains a positive, helpful & caring attitude toward patients, co-workers, and providers
- Acts as a “team player” doing whatever tasks are necessary to assure functioning of office
and highest quality care to patients and companies who request our services
k. Perform additional duties as necessary
Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or GED
One to three years recent experience in acute care hospital registration or business office environment.
Knowledge in Medicare, Medi-Cal and third party billing.
Experience/Comfort with registration, billing and scheduling applications.
Experience or knowledge in admissions, registrations and insurance verification is essential.
