Qualifications

1. Certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services either CPMSM, or CPCS preferred. A minimum of two years experience in Medical Staff Services with credentialing, initial and reappointments, proctoring and privilege review preferred. 

2. Knowledge of Joint Commission, Title 22, Federal, State and other related regulatory requirements. 

3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

4. Knowledge of medical terminology, extensive computer experience with Word, Excel, Power Point and credential software programs. 

5. Responsible individual with the ability to work autonomously, set priorities, and work well under pressure. 

6. Ability to work in a multi-faceted, fast paced, highly productive office prone to many interruptions. 

7. Detail oriented with the ability to work with minimal supervision, efficiently and accurately and have exceptional organizational skills. 

8. Flexible in order to accommodate meeting schedules. 

9. Must be able to work with, and maintain confidential information. 

10. Must be able to work professionally, cooperatively and courteously with co-workers, physicians, administration and all other hospital staff/departments.

Description

Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility with an innovative, patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.

GENERAL DUTIES:

The medical staff/credentialing coordinator is responsible for performing some, or all of the following duties to allow the medical staff office to fulfill its responsibilities to the medical staff and the hospital administration. The Director of Medical Staff Services will determine the distribution of the job duties in a way that will promote the best overall performance, accuracy and function of the Medical Staff Office. Duties/responsibilities may change as the need arises. 1, Provide technical and administrative support to the Medical Staff Director, Medical Staff Leaders and Department/Section/Committee Chairs. 2. Responsible for the pre-app, initial application and reappointment process for physicians and allied health practitioners to ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations, State and Federal requirements and accreditation standards. 3. Acts as a resource for information regarding Bylaws, rules and regulations, policies and regulatory requirements related to Medical Staff. 4. Prepares/participants in regulatory surveys as requested by the Director of Medical Staff Services. 5. Provides support/management for the Continuing Medical Education program. 6. Support/management of the Emergency Room on-call schedules. 7. Support/management of specialty privilege sheets reviews/revisions. 8. Support/management of proctoring 9. Assist the Director of Medical Staff Services with other duties/projects upon request.
