GENERAL DUTIES:
To assure that all patients are registered in a timely, accurate and professional manner, and that all necessary identification, demographic and insurance is obtained and documented.
These services further the vision of Desert Regional Medical Center to create unique environments, where patients, their families, doctors and staff come together to achieve longer and better lives in the fight against cancer.
Responsibilities
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Establish procedures to ensure all new patients are pre-registered three days in advance.
Establish procedures for interviewing returning patients and verifying identification, demographic and insurance information.
Responsible for the completion of all registration charts and financial folders. Respond to patient accounting requests for demographic and insurance updates.
Communicate appropriately with all departments relative to daily activities.
Responsible for supervision of department staff in regard to recruiting, performance management, disciplinary action and in-service/orientation.
Interact with patients and their families in a professional manner, particularly during stress situations.
Provide excellent customer service.
Qualifications
Required:
- Complies with regulatory requirements (i.e. TJC) appropriate for position.
- Knowledge of benefit provisions and authorization processes for federal and state intermediaries, and contracted commercial payers.
- Proficiency in MS Word, SMS Invision, HDX eligibility verification and Host hospital registration system.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Minimum three years supervisory experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
Excellent oral and writing skills
