Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Stroke Coordinator is responsible for the organization of services and systems necessary for the multidisciplinary approach to the care of the neurologic and neurosurgical patient population in support of the Comprehensive Stroke Accreditation program.
Responsibilities
1. Leads ongoing maintenance of Comprehensive Stroke Center certification.
2. Informs leaders regarding regulatory changes.
3. Demonstrates problem solving and support of innovation.
4. Handles sensitive privacy issues appropriately.
5. Excellent written/oral communication skills.
6. Maintains disease specific program expertise and certification knowledge.
7. Manages service line disease specific programs.
8. Identifies improvement opportunities.
9. Coordinates patient care services.
10. Leads data collection, reporting, audits and evaluations.
11.Participates in committee work, document review, education, outreach and program promotion.
12. Attends stroke codes and assists in transporting or transferring of patients when necessary.
13. Support the Quality department in environment of care rounds requiring the ability to
squat, turn, twist, and perform other physical movements as needed while conducting Environment of Care rounds.
14. Support the Hospital during periods of surge by providing direct patient care when necessary.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current California RN license
Current AHA BLS Certification
Clinical competence and leadership skills - Data collection, entry and analysis experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of stroke
- Experience in providing direct care to stroke patients within the last 2 years
Preferred:
- 5 years’ clinical experience with 2-3 years of program management
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent experience
