Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385 bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility with an innovative , patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.
GENERAL DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the Perinatologist, the Ultrasound Technologist shall provide sonographic services to the patient. The Technologist shall operate ultrasound equipment, develop film, and prepare rooms; maintaining equipment and supplies. The Sonographer shall provide sonographic service in multiple environments including the Maternal Fetal Medicine Center, and the areas of the Women's and Infants Center. The Ultrasound Technologist's performance and behavior shall be both reflective and supportive of the Mission Statement and Core Values of the Hospital. Access to all Patient Health Information for treatment. DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Promptly reports malfunctioning equipment to the Manager of MFMC.
- Completes all procedures assigned, coordination / cooperating with other technologists to provide for a steady work flow and allowing for lunch/breaks as necessary.
- Consistently demonstrates working knowledge and proficiency with equipment use outside of the MFMC as portables that are utilized in patient rooms, the Emergency Department and in the Operating Suites. Is able to work in these environments adhering to rules of aseptic technique, isolation precautions and maintaining privacy.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Routinely follows policy and procedure when producing and delivering sonographic films.
- Change solution in sterilizer as needed. Monitors chemicals and solution temperatures. Follows preventive maintenance on all equipment.
- Enters correct data into Observer Program
- Uses Observer for work/patient related inquiries.
- Performs assigned duties with Observer, i.e. Exam Data Entry, Exam Check-in, Incomplete Work Reports.
- Assists with answering the telephone as necessary, identifies self, department and hospital, handles calls or refers to appropriate party.
- Addresses persons on phone and in person by name or mamm or sir. (No nicknames or pet names).
- Performs filing and scheduling of patients as necessary.
- Assists in file room as necessary.
- Assists with coordination of multiple exams for patient within the department. Works to provide an efficient transition and use of time between hospital and imaging areas.
- Maintains a safe environment for patient care/imaging (restraints, side rails, isolation precautions, oxygen, monitoring of patient activity).
- Maintains and verifies proper patient identification.
- Completes all mandatory programs per hospital policy.
- Follows policies and procedures regarding Infection Control and Safety.
- Reports and documents any unusual patient or administrative occurrence that may have an effect on the patients and/or staff well-being, at the time of occurrence.
- Provides yearly documentation of ECE.
- Maintains professional association memberships.
- Attends Departmental Meetings.
- Reports to work as scheduled, in accordance with hospital policy, and takes responsibility to prevent absences and tardiness.
- Demonstrates a consistently well-organized approach to all activities.
- Complies with Hospital policy regarding breaks and lunch periods.
Follows established Hospital procedures for clients and/or patient requests
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of ultrasound technology.
- Must be registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Board Eligible. Must be scheduled to take board exams within six months of hire date. Must have ARDMS registry within 12 months of hire date within their specialty.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification required (maintain current at all times).
Effective communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, physicians, visitors and other staff members
Pay range: $39.13 Minimum - $52.58 Maximum an hour
Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.
