Position Summary
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Technician provides individualized, culture-specific patient care by attending to the personal needs and comfort of patients. Assists the professional or licensed nurse as delegated in tasks requiring less technical skills. Participates in shift and bedside report, performs phlebotomist duty, clerical/reception unit clerk duties as assigned, and assists in promoting an organized, efficient, smoothly functioning unit. Participates and supports regional, facility, department, and unit initiatives.
- SPECIAL SKILLS:
- Excellent customer service skills; basic computer skills; high level of attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, visitors and health care team members.
- Knowledge of patient rights, medical terminology, aseptic/sterile technique and infection control best practices.
- Ability to work under deadlines.
- Required:
- Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED
- EKG training in selected units
- Must be able to complete blood draws independently
- Certifications/Licensure: CPR
- Education:
- Preferred:
- Experience: One year of experience in an acute care setting
- Certification/Registration: CNA/LNA from the Arizona State Board of Nursing
