Description:

General Summary: Performs a variety of radiological procedures, including vascular, invasive, interventional examinations and computerized tomographic procedures. Possesses highly technical skills to operate sophisticated equipment. Ability to perform duties of ARRT Technologist when not performing CT

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Assists in evaluation of new procedures and equipment.
  2. Performs proper billing/charging with computer systems.
  3. Uses CT equipment. Proficiency with general operating procedure i.e. start up procedures, calibration of equipment, troubleshooting, QC, preventative maintenance, malfunctioning equipment and problem solving.
  4. Maintains inter and intra departmental communication via phone, fax, computer etc. Maintains appropriate communication with radiologists. In depth knowledge of human anatomy, proper patient positioning and good technical judgment.
  5. Adequate assessment and explanation of procedure to patient before testing occurs. CT protocols, biopsy and all other invasive procedure. Adequate history, consent form and lab values checked and documented before administering IV contrast.
  6. Use proper protocol for PACS and RIS electronic system.
  7. Assesses and prioritizes a rapidly changing workload. Completes work in a timely manner. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment. Shares responsibility for organizing supplies, tracking, stocking and storing equipment and keeping the department clean.
  8. Utilizes personal protective equipment to protect from exposure to chemical, radiation and infectious hazards.
  9. Actively participates in department management by providing input at meetings and reading communication.
  10. Identifies, proposes solutions and assists in implementation of ideas for improvement in patient care and departmental / facility operations.
  11. Functions as a patient advocate. Participates in the successful implementation of change.
  12. Decrease waste in supplies and equipment.
  13. Position may be required to work on-call (stand-by) shifts and return to work as outlined in the department policy.
  14. Additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of accredited Imaging Program

Certification: ARRT ( R ) and documentation of CT training and experience; must obtain CT Registry within one year of hire; BLS; state license if

Experience: Must have 1 - 3 years' experience working as a CT Tech.
