- Conducts individualized patient and family need assessment regarding knowledge of breast-feeding
- Performs and documents targeted patient physical/emotional assessment and identifies deviations from norm
- Develops goals and objectives for individualized patient teaching and overall patient education program
- Provides direct patient instruction and clinical consultation services for the breast-feeding patients
- Uses input/evaluation from staff, patient, family, physicians, and community to continuously improve patient education processes
- Performs related duties as required.
Serves as a clinical expert and program coordinator for the Lactation Program. Responsible for direct patient/family teaching and for developing teaching skills of direct care staff so those patient/family goals can be met.
- Required:
- Education: Associate degree or professional training required
- Experience: No previous experience is required
- Licensure/Certification: IBCLC certification required.
- Preferred:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience: 1 to 2 years is preferred
