Summary
The Medical Assistant serves as the initial contact for patients and physicians. This position assists with escorting patients, preparing patients for exams and procedures and aids as needed. Handles front office duties and implements, organizes and maintains patients’ charts. Performs various tasks including phlebotomy, vital signs, EKG and order entry in addition to cleaning exam rooms, equipment and storage areas. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned. Utilizes a defined skill set consistent with the basic educational program, certification, and relevant work experience to deliver direct care to the patient in the outpatient clinical setting
- MINIMUM EDUCATION: Required: High school diploma or GED
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Completion of an accredited medical assisting program. - EXPERIENCE:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year of health care related experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience. Electronic Medical Records (EMR) - CERTIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Must be currently licensed, certified or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy.
