Description

Summary
Develops long and short term strategic plans for hospital laboratories located in market/region. Strategic partner for
corporate laboratory director providing guidance and support for enterprise initiatives. Responsible for multiple facilities in
market and serves as the subject matter expert. Collaborates with, and provides expertise/ support to Medical Directors and
Facility Leadership on quality, patient safety and regulatory initiatives, (i.e. CAP, CLIA).
1. Assists hospital director in developing and monitoring department budgets.
2. Leads and directs clinical standardization initiatives across the market, and ensures facility compliance.
3. Assists in selection of leadership personnel.
4. Provides input and recommendations on discipline and termination.
5. Responsible for multiple facilities in market to include;
a. Clinical standardization/test utilization.
b. Medical decision support; technology standardization – w/operations leader.
c. Operational cost savings initiatives to support market financial goals.
d. Overall regulatory compliance in market

Qualifications

Education:

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an 
accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489. 
Personnel who, prior to 2/28/92 have qualified at the Medical Technologist level by achieving a satisfactory grade on 
a HHS examination. The above meets required criteria as defined by CLIA regulations for High Complexity testing 
(42 CFR 493.1489, Jan. 24, 2003).
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master’s Degree 

Experience:

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Required: 8 years of progressive supervisory experience in an acute care facility 
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Managing clinical laboratories in multi-facility systems

Certifications:

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Registered in accordance with an approved certifying agency 
(ASCP, NCA, AMT or equivalent). Licensure, as required by State law.
