Job Summary
The EVS Team Lead cleans patient areas, office spaces, hallways and other areas of the hospital according to written work schedules, policies and procedures. Performs project work and other ES duties as directed by the department director or coordinator. Works around all hospital patients, but does not have direct patient contact. Directs ES employees according to coordinator’s or director’s instructions. Fills in occasionally and during the absence of the coordinator as the person in charge of ES operations. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
General Functions:
- Directs workflow and gives instructions to ES Technicians based on instructions received from coordinator or department director
- Cleans all assigned areas and completes other tasks as defined in written work schedules
- Follows all steps listed on the work schedule
- Complies with all Baptist Health System and Environmental Services policies on safety, hazardous materials, standard precautions and infection control
Department/Business Unit Functions:
- Ensures there is coverage for all work areas at the beginning of the shift
- Calls in employees as needed to cover work areas at the beginning of the shift (with permission of the coordinator or director)
- Redistributes work as needed
- Trains new employees and retains existing employees
- Documents employee incidents
- Answers calls and pages
- Checks that all assigned work is completed at the end of the shift
- Communicates all pertinent information to the coordinator or the department director
- Assumes responsibility for ES operations during the absence of coordinator and Director
- Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
- Maintains safe environment
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 years of Environmental Services/housekeeping experience in an institutional environmental services department.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Supervisory experience
