Description

The Group Fitness Instructor demonstrates and instructs exercise classes for members. Monitors and educates members or proper fitness techniques, form and safety. Ensures overall satisfaction of members regardless of exercise experience, physical condition or age. Maintains a safe and enjoyable class experience for class participants. Markets and promotes HealthLink events, programs and offerings. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Course work in fitness program development required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field from an accredited college or university.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Working experience in commercial, corporate fitness center, or experience conducting group exercise classes.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Track record of working with senior populations, injured or diseased populations. Proven track record of professional involvement is helpful.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Nationally recognized group exercise. Certification by AFAA, ACSM, ACE, AEA, NCCA, IFPA, NETA, ISSA, Fit Tour, Yoga, Silver Sneakers, or Les Mills, etc.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Accredited Group Exercise Instructor Certification, Personal Training Certification or equivalent recommended. AEA for Aquatic Instructor or NCCA for Pilates instructor. Willingness to obtain further credentials a must.

REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of Hire.
