Fitness Instructor (Aquatics, Silver Sneakers, Strength, and/or Conditioning)

Lead and instruct group exercise classes in Aquatics, Silver Sneakers, Strength, and/or Conditioning fitness, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for participants of all fitness levels.

Develop and deliver engaging and effective workout routines, incorporating appropriate techniques, progressions, and modifications to accommodate diverse participant needs.

Provide clear instructions, cues, and demonstrations to ensure proper form and execution of exercises.

Motivate and inspire participants to achieve their fitness goals, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of exercise equipment and class spaces.

Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

General Functions:
 Assesses, develops and monitors exercise programs for members to ensure quality, documentation 
and follow-up
 Interacts with members to ensure exercise appropriateness and comfort levels and overall 
satisfaction
 Monitors and documents vital signs for members as needed
 Maintains expertise in Trifit and Technogym equipment software
 Monitors fitness training area and ensures a comfortable and safe exercise experience for all 
members
 Ensures cleanliness and operational quality of fitness equipment and facilities
 Serves as Manager On Duty whenever upper management is not on site
 Assists physical therapy department when needed in exercise supervision of patients

 Assists Customer Service Associates with tour, informed consent and risk stratification as needed
 Supports an participates in activities in support of the HealthLink vision
 Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of member retention programs and 
fitness incentive programs
 Monitors the group exercise program including scheduling equipment and staffing of contract 
instructors
 Serves as the senior advisor for the SilverSneaker program
 Assists in preparation of the newsletter and submits to HealthLink Director
 Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
 Maintains safe environment
 Participates in Performance Improvement activities

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school/GED.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Working experience in a commercial, corporate fitness center. 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Track record of working with senior populations, injured or diseased populations in both class and aqua settings. 

 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Certified instructor in one or more group exercise styles

 

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: ACSM Health Fitness Instructor or equivalent preferred. 

 

REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): BLS- Obtained through an approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network.
