Summary

Performs clerical tasks as assigned by management staff which includes the following:

  • Provides DNFC/Bill Hold Support by reviewing information/ reports and follow-up for completion of missing elements with physician offices and hospital departments to obtain the necessary information to expedite the coding process
  • Generates reports and maintains databases for communication with the medical staff regarding the deficiency management system as well as adherence to the medical staff medical records suspension policy
  • Performs concurrent and retrospective analysis of IP/OP Medical Records consistent with department/hospital standards and assigns deficiencies for physicians to complete
  • Reviews/Audits medical records for completeness as required by CMS, TJC and other regulatory agencies
  • Maintains the integrity of the Master Patient Index (MPI) system by identifying duplicate medical record numbers and follows procedures to review and correct
  • Perform audits, HPF/Cerner Workflow Queues and other departmental support

Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School graduate or equivalent
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Associates Degree from an accredited School or College; RHIT eligible
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 years HIM experience or related field
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years HIM related experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: NA
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: RHIA,RHIT
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): NA
