POSITION SUMMARY (General statement reflecting the overall purpose of the position.) Responsible for daily maintenance, repairs and preventive maintenance of the Hospital buildings, equipment and physical plant. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Trade School in mechanical, electrical or air conditioning
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 years in a Hospital or 5 years similar experience in an industrial setting.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 3 to 5 years hospital experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: NA
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Training Certificate in mechanical, electrical, air conditioning or equivalent experience. EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification, a plus.
General Functions: Performs daily maintenance, repairs and preventive maintenance
Department/Business Unit Function: Performs preventative maintenance on many types of hospital equipment and a variety of heating and air conditioning systems Replaces light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, switchers, plugs, receptacles, ballasts, and makes repairs on faucets, commodes, valves and door closures Assumes responsibility for checking maintaining and making repairs on: o patient room equipment such as beds, bed side tables, lights, nurse call systems and plumbing equipment o boilers, chillers and all associated plant equipment o fan motors, pumps (such as sewage, condensate, vacuum pumps), and other auxiliary equipment o vacuum pumps, medical air compressors, medical gas wall outlets and regulators, etc. Operates and maintains Emergency Generators Performs carpentry, floor tile, ceramic wall tile repairs, and paintingPerforms inspections to fire safety equipment and systems Checks operation of and repairs fire doors Runs errands Assists with moving furniture, boxes and heavy objects Documents all work performed on appropriate logs and work orders. Assists in requisitioning supplies, parts and materials as needed Maintains a chemical treatment program for all cooling and heating systems Works shifts as assigned. Assumes on-call responsibilities as necessary according to each facility schedule Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively Maintains safe environment Participates in Performance Improvement activities
