POSITION SUMMARY
Security Officer 1 (Unarmed Security) are instrumental in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, patients, physicians, students, vendors and visitors by monitoring and patrolling our facilities. Officers demonstrate exceptional customer service while providing assistance with disruptive incidents, emergency services, personal protection and traffic/parking control. Other related duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school graduate or GED required or equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED EDUCATION: n/a
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Two to three years in a security role, law enforcement or military background or a minimum of three years of strong customer service roles with the ability and willingness to learn security practices.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: n/a
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Requires the ability to obtain, and maintain, appropriate state license/certifications for this position.

  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) within 60 days of employment or transfer date into the department;
  • Must maintain a valid state driver’s license.
  • BLS-Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center
  • Level II Noncommissioned Security Officer within 60 days of hire
  • PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
    Texas Security Officer Commission Level III

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform continuous physical exertion activities (going up and down multiple flights of stairs, standing and walking for extended periods of time, carrying people in emergency situations, etc.), as needed. Must meet all physical requirements of the job. This could require an annual physical;
  • Must be able to perform duties wearing personal protective equipment (Masks, gowns, security-related equipment, etc.), as required;
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, as well as an annual background check;
  • Effective written and oral communication skills a must (includes using proper grammar and spelling or report writing responsibilities);
  • Effective interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner;
  • Ability to use initiative and independent judgment;
  • Ability to frequently prepare written reports and provide quality customer service;
  • Ability to handle both common and crisis situations, calmly and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL / PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Protect life, property, information and reputation by employing situational awareness; monitoring and securing designated entrances/exits; observing flow of employees, patients, physicians, students, vendors and visitors into the facility; verifying credentials and providing directions to authorized areas.
  • Evaluate and respond in a timely manner to events and incidents in accordance to System policies.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to staff, patients, visitors and physicians.
  • Respond immediately, or as the appropriate, to emergency/unusual situations including disturbances, disruptive employees, patients, vendors & visitors, fires and medical emergencies (i.e. including, but not limited to restraining agitated patients in accordance to Tenet Corporate Security and facility policy).
  • Prepares and submits all required incident documentation according to Tenet Corporate Security and facility policies and procedures.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of all security orders, written and oral, pertaining to assigned duties, as well as working knowledge of regulatory requirements needed for position.
  • Control and regulate pedestrian and vehicle traffic, when volume and events require, in an orderly and safe manner.
  • Enforce facility access control policy and parking regulations.
  • Provide safety escorts and assistance to employees, patients and visitors.
  • Patrols and protects the facilities by foot and/or vehicle to detect or prevent illegal/unauthorized activities.
  • Prevent/report all violations of security and safety rules and regulations utilizing identified Tenet Corporate Security processes.
  • Respond to protective alarm signals or other unusual/suspicious activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
