Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION:  Master’s Degree in Speech Therapy from an accredited college or university.

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology/Communication Sciences and Disorders or Equivalent. Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Pediatric population work, clinical observation, volunteer work, or relevant applicable experiences.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Consistent and dedicated NICU and/or pediatric experience. Spanish Proficiency

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State license in Speech. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Certified Neonatal Therapist, Infant Massage, Pediatric Certified Specialist, Pediatric Residency, NICU Fellowship

REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): BLS-Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network.

Up to $10,000 Sign On Bonus available based on experience

The NICU Speech Therapist is responsible for the system wide administration, interpretation and evaluation of tests and measurements in the NICU. Plans and modifies treatment programs. Works with neonatal intensive care patients, pediatric intensive care patients, pediatric inpatients and outpatients, and developmental follow-up patients with advanced level clinical competency. Works as part of a multidisciplinary care team to provide evidence based, individualized family centered developmental care. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
