1. Demonstrates knowledge of, and adheres to all applicable professional and regulatory practices, State and Federal regulations, Policies and Procedures of San Ramon Regional Medical Center, and Tenet Corporation.
2. Consistently manages the duties, responsibilities, and workload.
3. Utilizes resources as needed to perform job duties (ie, the Diet Office Book, the default menus, the soup and vegetable cycle lists, RDs).
4. Follows Infection Control Guidelines to ensure Safe Food Service. Includes proper hand washing, hair covering, uniform, personal hygiene and sanitary procedures.
5. Organizes the distribution of meals and nourishments for patients. Keeps information organized and accessible.
6. Maintains an organized, functional workspace, making sure stocked items are replenished daily.
7. Updates diet orders, modify and calculate therapeutic diets according to guidelines set up by the Clinical Dietitian.
8. Modifies and calculates therapeutic diets according to guidelines set up by the Dietitian, showing attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
9. Works with the cooks to ensure ordered food is communicated in a timely fashion.
10. Checks the tray line for appropriateness and accuracy. Assures adherence to specifications, observing appearance, quantity and temperature.
11. Committed to increasing patient satisfaction.
12. Assures that the rights of all patients are respected with dignity, with privacy and confidentiality provided at all times.
13. Delivers late trays and supplemental food items to patients as required in a timely manner.
14. Orients, trains, and supervises Volunteers, assigning extra duties as needed.
15. Keeps updated on new departmental changes and meetings by reviewing postings in the kitchen as well as in the Diet Office Book.
16. Independently handles changes and new procedures.
17. Has a working knowledge of computer system.
18. Accurately and consistently maintains required records and logs. Includes Daily Meal Count, Tally Sheets, and Refrigerator / Freezer Temperature Logs.
19. Works in collaboration with other dietary staff, using effective communication skills. Includes working with the Dietitian, providing any pertinent information regarding patients observed during interaction.
20. Able to remain balanced and even-tempered in challenging situations.
21. Expresses and accepts feedback in a professional manner. Demonstrates flexibility and open-mindedness.
22. Participates in department Quality Control and Performance Improvement Programs as directed by the Dietitian and/or Food Service Director.
23. Participates in the planning of Diet Office related systems and policies.
24. Completes nutritional screens on patients as time allows, referring at-risk patients to the Dietitian as appropriate.
25. Completes basic diet education when ordered, providing written information with Dietitian phone number. Documents in the Interdisciplinary Patient/Family Education Record.
26. Provides follow-up nutrition care for patients for moderate and low-risk patients, and for high risk patients according to the Dietitian’s Plan of Care. Updates Care Plans when appropriate.
27. Assumes other duties or assignments as designated by the Food Service Director or Dieticians.
28. Accountable for maintaining a good record of attendance and punctuality, utilizing the time clock for hours worked independently. Includes avoiding missed meal periods and overtime.
29. Conducts all hospital business within the highest standard of ethical behavior, adhering to SRRMC Behavior Standards. Complies with SRRMC Policies/Procedures protecting patient information and the confidentiality of the information in accordance with the Federal and State Regulations.
30. Maintains required departmental in-service requirements and staff meetings. Independently completes EDU. requirements prior to due date.
31. Demonstrates prudent resource management, protecting hospital resources through appropriate and careful use of supplies and equipment.
32. Consistently appears in attire appropriate to the professional environment.
33. Accesses MyTenet weekly for department, hospital, and company updates and changes.
34. Completes .edu’s and other required hospital education by the due date.
35. Adheres to SRRMC Behavior Standards.
36. Complies with San Ramon Regional Medical Center Policies/Procedures protecting patient information and the confidentiality of the information in accordance with the Federal and State regulations.

Position Summary:
Provide the daily administration of nutritional and therapeutic diet systems. Modify therapeutic menu selections and integrate nutrition principles to patient's menus to provide nutritionally adequate meals within the guidelines of the physician’s prescription, working closely with the Dietitian. Maintain adequate records of diet prescriptions, participate in Quality Control Programs and maintain professionalism according to hospital wide standards. Completes nutritional screens, diet education and follow-up nutrition care to patients.
Minimum Education:
Associate Degree in Nutrition or related field
Minimum Experience/Skills:
Six (6) months experience within the past 6 years in a Hospital or in Food Service
Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:
DTR (Registered Dietetic Tech License) required
Vision Requirements:
Normal vision with or without corrective lenses
Working Conditions:
