Position Summary:
Provide the daily administration of nutritional and therapeutic diet systems. Modify therapeutic menu selections and integrate nutrition principles to patient's menus to provide nutritionally adequate meals within the guidelines of the physician’s prescription, working closely with the Dietitian. Maintain adequate records of diet prescriptions, participate in Quality Control Programs and maintain professionalism according to hospital wide standards.
Responsibilities
- Understand the duties and responsibilities of the job, consistently managing a fair work load.
- Has the knowledge necessary to perform the job, utilizing resources as needed (ie, the Diet Office Book, the default menus, the soup and vegetable cycle lists, RDs).
- Follows Infection Control Guidelines to ensure Safe Food Service. Includes proper handwashing, hair covering, uniform, personal hygiene and sanitary procedures.
- Assures that the rights of all patients are respected with dignity, with privacy and confidentiality provided at all times.
- Organize the distribution of meals and nourishments for patients. Keeps information organized and accessible.
- Maintains an organized, functional workspace, making sure stocked items are replenished daily.
- Update diet orders, modify and calculate therapeutic diets according to guidelines set up by the Dietitian.
- Modify and calculate therapeutic diets according to guidelines set up by the Dietitian, showing attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
- Checks the trayline for appropriateness and accuracy. Assures adherence to specifications, observing appearance, quantity and temperature.
- Committed to increasing patient satisfaction.
- Work with the cooks to ensure ordered food and special requests are communicated in a timely fashion.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Experience/Skills:
Six (6) months of Hospital or Food Service experience within the past six (6) years, OR a four (4) year degree in Nutrition
Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:
DTR (Registered Dietetic Tech) preferred
