1. Follows Infection Control Guidelines to Ensure Food Safety. Maintains optimum sanitary food service by cleaning and sanitizing work areas and by cleaning and sanitizing both patient and general use carts. (Proper hand washing, hair covering, uniform, personal hygiene and sanitary procedures). (Patient Meal Transport Carts Must Be Cleaned And Sanitized After Each Meal), (Towels Must Be Kept In A Red Pail With Effective Sanitizing Solution).

2. Provide efficient and accurate patient food service by functioning as a patient tray-line server, café server, cashier and/or transporter of the patient food carts (Push Only One  Cart At A Time).

3. Accurately maintain required records and logs. (Café Sales Report Must Be Accurate and Dish machine Temperature Log Must Be 100% Complete) and (Utilize time clock to record hours worked).

4. Adheres to SRRMC Behavior Standards.

5. Complete assigned task list, assigned .EDU’s & other required hospital education (by the due date) and assigned cleaning lists (including date and initial on printed log sheet immediately following task completion).

6. Prepare and set up steam table, serving line and patient trays.  Stock dishes, silverware, cold foods, baked goods, beverages, desserts and condiments.

7. Strip trays, sort and rinse dishes/silverware. Load and unload dishmachine. Carefully stack or store washed and dried items as required. Scrape, wash, scour and rinse pots, pans and utensils.

8. Disassemble, clean, sanitize and reassemble dishwasher, soda machine and coffee pots. Change dishmachine water regularly.

9. Restock the refrigerators, ice cream, chips, cereal, fruit and supplies. Portion desserts.

10. Prepare and assists in making a variety of food items to include but not limited to, side salads, fruit plates, parfaits, vegetables, sandwiches and coffee.

11. May assist the Cook on an as needed basis.

12. Bake pre-prepared items to include but not limited to cookies, pies, muffins, bread, and scones.

13. Deliver/bus catered functions and properly dispose of trash in disposal area.

14. Accountable for maintaining a good record of attendance and punctuality.

15. Accountable for demonstrating current knowledge of departmental policies and procedures. Complies with SRRMC Policies/Procedures protecting patient information and the confidentiality of the information in accordance with the Federal and State regulations.

Job Summary

Provides safe and effective food service for patients, visitors, and staff. Follows guidelines for Infection Control and Food Safety. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all items in work area. Performs routine tasks in the kitchen, tray line and dishwashing areas.

  • Minimum Education:
    • High School Graduate or equivalent, preferred
  • Minimum Experience/Skills:
    • Experience working in a full service Commercial Foodservice Kitchen and commercial dishwashing experience is preferred
  • Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:
    • None
