Supply Chain Manager
Sunnyvale, Texas Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - SunnyvaleBaylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Manager of Materials Management to be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of purchasing, inventory control, receiving, storage, distribution of supplies, and coordination of vendor services within the hospital. This role ensures materials are available at appropriate stock levels and procured at the most favorable cost while supporting system contract compliance. The Manager assists the Director in implementing strategies, budgets, policies, and systems to provide timely, efficient, and cost-effective supply chain operations across the facility.
Qualifications:
- Coordinates daily procurement of supplies and equipment according to hospital policies and approved contractual agreements.
- Reviews and submits purchase orders for approval; monitors delivery, backorders, and non-stock requests.
- Maintains proper stock levels across departments using the Pathways Materials Management system or designated supply chain platforms.
- Reviews and adjusts PAR levels based on utilization and budget guidance from the Director.
- Oversees the receiving, storage, and distribution of medical and non-medical supplies throughout the hospital.
- Ensures safe handling and receiving of hazardous substances per regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates maintenance and updates to supply chain software systems.
- Works with vendors to resolve order discrepancies, contract compliance, delivery issues, and pricing disputes.
- Assists in soliciting proposals, monitoring vendor performance, and evaluating supply contracts under the direction of the Director.
- Assists in supply utilization analysis, pricing reviews, and monthly reporting for the Director/CFO.
- Supports operating and capital budget preparation and assists department leaders in identifying cost-efficient supply options.
- Supports contract compliance education for department directors.
- Supervises Central Supply personnel (excluding sterilization staff if applicable).
- Provides routine training, performance feedback, and supports professional development of department staff.
- Maintains strong working relationships with clinical and non-clinical departments through timely service and communication.
- Assists with emergency supply planning, sourcing backup vendors, and maintaining readiness stock levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain, healthcare management or related field preferred; experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare supply chain or materials management required; one (1) year of leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of acute care regulations (e.g., Joint Commission) preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, staff, and leadership.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Working knowledge of inventory software systems; Pathways Materials Management or equivalent system preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency required.
- Strong communication, vendor negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skill
